 Recap of Events

Sepia Dinner  - Jan 26th
Contributed by Trisha Squires Daho

On January 26th, 6 EPWNG members met for a gourmet meal at Sepia, in downtown Chicago.  The ladies had a table in a private room and were able to take advantage of the ½ price wine promotion. Event Planner Trisha Squires Daho reports, "Nearly all of the women in attendance were foodies, and the food was delightful."  Member Barbara Yong shared her photo of the Duck Breast Entrée, which she deemed "fabulous!".  Barbara adds, "It was a great opportunity to meet EPWNG members I had not met before and to share lively conversation." Trisha agrees, "Conversations were vast, from kids to countries to protests to presidencies, we covered it!"  Sepia is at 123 N. Jefferson Street in Chicago.

Wine Tasting at Good Grapes  - February 2nd
Contributed by Anna Krolikowska

Thank you to all those who attended the EPWNG Social Committee wine tasting at Good Grapes in Winnetka on February 2nd. We welcomed the New Year with a wine tasting and light snacks. There were plenty of opportunities to make new connections. In fact, we had so much fun that we are already planning another wine tasting for this summer or fall. Good Grapes is located in the heart of the Winnetka's shopping district, at 820 Chestnut Court, Winnetka, and offers small production and specially selected wines and craft beers. I will look forward to seeing you all at our next wine tasting!

Dinner at Guildhall and Writer's Theater The Scene - February 22nd
Contributed by Ellen Feldman.

EPWNG Social Committee members Ellen Feldman and Andrea Muchin recently planned a fun evening where ten (10) EPWNG members enjoyed a delicious and festive dinner at Guildhall and the preview showing of The Scene at the Writer's Theatre in Glencoe on Wednesday, February 22.  The theatre is gorgeous, and the play, which was well-written and beautifully performed, captured a millennial view of love and trying to make it, both personally and professionally, in the real world.  Most of agreed that we are not sure we would recommend the play, which was both darker than expected and not exactly what EPWNG women aspire to achieve, but the night was fun!

Bring a Friend Breakfast at QuisLex - February 22nd
Contributed by Julie Maier

On Wednesday, February 22nd, over 20 professional women attended EPWNG's second "Bring a Friend" event at the Chicago office of QuisLex.  Hosted by member Julie Maeir of QuisLex, attending members each brought a friend to introduce them to EPWNG.  Founder Wendy Baum and board members Judy Elowe and Deane Brown discussed the history of EPWNG and the various elements of what makes EPWNG such a successful networking group, both professionally and personally.  Members and guests enjoyed breakfast while networking in an informal and friendly setting.

Platinum Perspective

Meet Ashley Blankstein-Delaney

Ashley Blankstein-Delaney has been an EPWNG member for more than six years. When Platinum membership was offered to EPWNG members last year, she decided to enhance her membership.

Currently, Ashley is a first year board member where one of her key roles is to serve as a liaison for the recruitment committee.

If Ashley had to list just one of the reasons why women should belong to EPWNG, she would list all the amazing women she has met. Without this organization, she wouldn't have met half of them or learned about their businesses.

For 24 years, Ashley focused her career on marketing and sales. Being in health care for more than ten years has been rewarding, because she has gained expertise in the area of rehab and recovery.

Ashley is director of business development and physician relations at Whitehall of Deerfield. During this time, Ashley's responsibilities have grown. She provides education to the community by offering monthly classes on a variety of subjects. She also offers CEU's for the nurses, social workers and other people in the medical community.

Ashley will often receive calls from families to make sure that she is aware their loved one is at Whitehall. "I will personally visit with them to make sure things are going smoothly and seamlessly. Actually, this is one of my favorite things to do...interacting with our current patients and their families," she says.

The benefits Ashley receives from working at Whitehall are too long for her to list. However, one of the most important benefits is making a difference in someone's life and making that person feel he or she is taken care of.

If someone wants to learn more about her field, Ashley recommends doing informational interviews with someone who currently holds the job you would like to have. Listen carefully, and try to change careers slowly.

Besides her involvement in EPWNG, Ashley recently completed her two year term as board chair of the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, and her seventh year on the board. In addition, she is the Vice President of Funding and Development for the NorthShore University Auxiliary Board and will become president elect in October. Ashley is currently on the committee planning the Gala for the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook.

When Ashley's not working, involved in charitable events or attending meetings, she loves spending time with her husband and her children. She tries to attend all their sport games. When it's vacation time, Ashley loves to travel in the United States and to other interesting countries.
